Bruce Dee has won the British Elite Athletes Association’s (BEAA) final Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award of 2025.
The World and European Championship silver medallist was recognised by his fellow athletes following a record-breaking performance at the GoCardless Swim England National Winter Championships in December.
Bruce broke the S6 100m breaststroke world record twice, setting a time of 1:20.35 in the morning session, before returning later in the day to lower his time to 1:19.80. In doing so, he became the first S6 para-athlete to swim under 1:20 in the event.
The world record marked the end of a successful 2025 for the 19-year-old, who won silver in the 4x100m medley relay at the World Para Swimming Championships in September and was later named Para Swimming Emerging Athlete of the Year by Aquatics GB.
The Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award celebrates the achievements of Britain’s elite sportspeople. It is voted for by BEAA members - athletes funded by UK Sport’s World Class Programme.
Congratulations to Bruce for winning and to Zoe Atkin (skiing), Sophie Capewell (cycling) and Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson (figure skating) for being nominated.
Athletes can get involved in choosing the winner of future awards via the BEAA’s monthly member emails.
