The British Elite Athletes Association (BEAA) has confirmed the nominees for July’s Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award.
Andy Brown (windsurfing), Sally Kidson (boccia), Ben Llewellin (shooting) and Jemima Yeats-Brown (judo) have all been shortlisted for the prize following another memorable few weeks for elite British sport.
The winner will be chosen by BEAA members, elite British athletes who are funded by UK Sport’s World Class Programme.
Andy is nominated after winning the 2025 iQFOiL World Championships to claim the first world title of his career. The 26-year-old split the first two races with France’s Tom Arnoux but controlled the final race from start to finish to secure top spot on the podium.
Sally makes the shortlist after she won gold at the European Boccia Championships. The 20-year-old beat the reigning champion, Sonia Heckel of France, to win the individual BC3 final and claim the first major title of her career.
Continental success earned Ben a place on the shortlist too, as he won two medals at the European Championships. He took bronze in the men’s team skeet alongside Mitchell Brooker-Smith and Arran Eccleston and then, after equalling the world and European record in qualifying, he claimed gold in the men’s individual skeet.
Jemima completes this month’s nominees after she marked her return from knee surgery with victory at the Tallinn European Open. Competing for the first time since the Paris Olympics, she delivered a flawless performance to win gold in the -70kg category.
Elite athletes can vote for their Athlete of the Month by heading to their latest BEAA email, with the winner to be confirmed shortly.
